The Greenland wolf (Canis lupus orion) is a subspecies of gray wolf (or an ecomoph of Canis lupus arctos) that is native to Greenland and Ellesmere Island. Historically it was heavily persecuted, but today it is fully protected. Approximately 90% of the wolf's range falls within the boundaries of the Northeast Greenland National Park. It was classified as a distinct subspecies in 1935 by British zoologist Reginald Innes Pocock.

Apperance[]
The Greenland wolf is white to pale coloured. It and has been described as being small to medium in length, at 155 cm but extremely light in weight, at 26 kg. However, these measures were derived from only five specimens that were caught in northeast Greenland during the winter of 1906 and could be the result of under-nutrition.
Endangered?[]
The Greenland wolf has very small population of 30-40 wolves. It's likely quite inbred.
